Group Exercise Classes

Over 40 Group Exercise Classes are offered each semester. Classes vary in goal, intensity, and pace. Our Fitness Pass provides you with unlimited access to all Group Exercise Classes, including water exercise

BSDI Fitness Analyst

Fitness Analyst (a comprehensive fitness assessment, exercise programming, training and motivation software used by Recreational Sports' Personal Fitness Trainers) is available in our Wellness Centers. This software keeps track of your medical, fitness, and exercise data, and can create personalized progress reports. (Open to clients with paid Personal Fitness Training sessions only).

VCU Recreational Sports welcomes students, faculty, staff and other members to our Fitness Center at the Stuart C. Siegel Center. The Fitness Center offers services that promote healthy lifestyles, illness and disability prevention, restore and improve wellness of mind and body and provide nutritional information:

Ongoing Professional Development

In addition, the Fitness Resource Center is set up for fitness/group exercise instructors and personal fitness trainers who want to stay current with information pertaining to their field of instruction and training. They also can branch out to related areas. Some sources are ACSM, AFAA, IDEA, AFPA, CSCS, NSCA, and ACE.

Fitness Workshops & Certification
During the academic year, Fitness Certification workshops are offered to both the VCU community as well as those in the Richmond area. Train to become a certified instructor in a number of areas such as Personal Fitness Training, Nutrition Consulting, Strength Consulting, Primary Group Exercise, and more. Workshops are open to VCU students, faculty, and staff unless otherwise noted. Certifications are open to the public and most offer discounts for VCU students, faculty, and staff. More »

Fitness Incentive Programs
Fitness Incentive Programs are held throughout the year. By joining a fitness team, you'll stay motivated. All participants get a T-shirt, which will no doubt fit better by end of the program! Prizes are offered. In the Fall, you can play fitness football by joining the VCUFL (VCU Fitness League), or reach a higher bench press goal in our Bench Press Competition. In the Spring, start the year right with the VCU New Year's Challenge, and keep your goals racing in high gear with the VCU Fitness 500.
