Rec Sports provides a wide variety of classes to meet the needs of VCU's diverse population, therefore Cary Street Gym group exercise studios are often divided so two classes can take place at the same time. Class sizes are limited due to safety and liability concerns. Patrons without wristbands will not be admitted to the class.

Conditioning Class Descriptions
30 Min ABS
Beginners to Advanced. This 30 minute class will be sure to work your abs in different variations. Be prepared to use a variety of equipment (balls, bands, gliders, weights, etc…) to achieve your goal!
A high–intensity approach to shaping and strengthening the midsection and core. Highly energetic instructors will lead participants in an abundance of abdominal, oblique, and lower back exercises. This 60–minute class will build the muscles of the trunk and raise the heart rate to help shed the fat that has been hiding that washboard stomach.
Wake up your body with strengthening and stretching exercises to get you pumped up for the rest of your day. This class will work you entirely using your body weight and light free weights to leave you with a nice, healthy, glistening glow. These exercises will also strengthen your core and improve your balance.
Boot Camp will challenge your muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance. Workouts are fat-burning and fast paced, and involve many different exercises each week.
Glutes & Guts
Gluts & Guts is dedicated to abdominal work and the remaining time is dedicated to working your lower body, focusing on your glutes, quads, and hams.
Step and Strength
This class combines the cardio benefits of step moves on an adjustable platform with resistance weight training.
Total Body Conditioning
Feel the burn as you use hand weights, exercise tubing and even your own body weight for high–repetition resistance. You will increase your strength and muscle tone.
A combination of intense kickboxing moves, as well as dance moves all choreographed to high energy and motivating music. It’s the ultimate cardiovascular challenge that’s a unique blend of intense intervals strength/endurance training, and a relaxing cool-down.

Wild Card Cardio
This class provides little bit of everything such as cardio, strength training, core, and lots more to help burn fat and build muscle.
Group Exercise Class Google Calendar Schedules
Click on the links below for class schedules that you can view, print, and import into your own Google calendar or iCal. Click on individual class listings to get details of class times, locations and instructors.
Please be sure to obtain a wristband for the class you wish to take. Wristbands are available at our kiosks at the service desk two hours prior to each class. Some classes are very popular, so be sure to give yourself time to get a wristband, change and come to class. Class entry closes 5 minutes after start time.
To save individual events or any of our calendars to your personal calendar:
1)click on the Google calendar icon on the lower right of the calendar.
2) The full calendar will open, with a dialog box asking if you would like to add the calendar.
3) Click Yes, then that calendar download to your personal Google calendar.
To print a Google calendar:
1) At the top of each calendar window is a Print icon, and you can choose Week/Month/Agenda (day).
2) Choose the tab you wish to print and click the printer icon next to the word Print.
3) A dialog box will show up with a preview of the calendar. You can customize printing options.
4) Click print.
