Although most of our positions open up in the spring, we hire for certain positions throughout the year. Check this page frequently to review our current openings.

Current Openings

Rec Sports accepts applications through VCU Career Services. Click on "Current Students" button in the Hire VCU Rams section of their home page. Once you log in with your VCU eID, search for "Recreational Sports" to see all current openings.

To Apply
Read the job description and qualifications carefully. Upload all required documents. Once you submit your application, the hiring supervisor will review it. If your application is selected, the hiring supervisor will contact you to schedule an interview. Due to the large volume of applications we receive, please allow two weeks prior to contacting the hiring supervisor.

The Interview
Your interview will be with one or more members of the staff in the area you applied for. You may meet with student managers, a Graduate Assistant, the area supervisor or any combination of these individuals. Please plan to arrive at least five minutes ahead of your interview. Business casual dress is acceptable. Please allow at least thirty minutes for your interview.

Please note, in some areas a practical skills test and/or audition may be required as part of your interview.

Next Steps
Should you pass the interview stage, our Personnel Administrators will contact you to schedule an intake session and inform you of required documentation. Once your New Hire Packet is complete, our staff will submit your information and provide an employment start date. Individuals will not be able to start employment without completing the New Hire Packet.

New Hire Packets include:
W-4 for taxes
government -issued identification per the I-9 form
Background check form
Voided check or deposit slip for payroll processing

Onboarding and Training
All staff are required to attend New Employee Orientation, which is offered three times a year. Your individual department will have additional onboarding, training and ongoing staff meetings. All Rec Sports staff are required to attend our mandatory department wide training in August, held shortly before Welcome Week. Most positions require CPR/First Aid/AED training, which is provided for free to all Rec Sports employees. As you progress in your career at Rec Sports, you will be able to apply for and participate in other professional development opportunities.
