Students

Students currently registered at VCU have full access to Rec Sports facilities and programs at no additional cost. This includes students from both the MCV Campus and Monroe Park Campus, full-time, part-time, graduate, undergraduate, and special students. Membership in Rec Sports is included in the student activity fee.Currently enrolled, non-fee paying students may join on a semester basis. Students who are not registered in summer sessions (yet were enrolled in the previous spring semester) retain their membership until the beginning of the fall semester. Non-fee paying students may purchase a membership for $66.67 per semester/summer.


Faculty & Staff

Currently employed faculty and staff of VCU and VCU Health System are eligible to purchase a Recreational Sports membership for access to facilities and programs. This includes full-time, part-time, house staff, adjunct, emeritus, visiting and retired faculty, classified and hourly staff, and employees of the VCU Health System, and Virginia Biotechnology Research Park employees. Selected full-time contact employees are eligible for membership.

Staff in their first four months of employment are eligible for a one month trial membership. All faculty/staff who have not previously been Rec. Sports members are eligible for a one week trial membership. Fill out a membership/payroll deduction form at our service desk, and if you choose to continue your membership after the trial period ends, your membership will be processed. 


Plus One Memberships

Recreational Sports members can sponsor one other individual of their choice over the age of 18 as a Plus One member for an additional fee. The sponsoring member can pay via check at the time of registration, or choose VCU/VCUHS payroll deduction. The Plus One member will be required to purchase a Recreational Sports membership Card for $15 from the VCU Card Office. For full details contact Doris Bryant at (804) 828-6397.


Alumni

Graduates of Virginia Commonwealth University, both Monroe Park and MCV Campuses, are eligible to purchase a limited number of Recreational Sports memberships. Alumni Association members receive a significant discount on Recreational Sports memberships.


Annual Membership Rates

Annual memberships are valid from September 1 to August 31. New memberships are prorated on the first day of each month.

Membership Details

All memberships can be processed the same day by going to either Recreational Sports facility. Membership contracts are not available online. All persons except VCU Students will need to complete a membership contract. Student spring semester fees cover summer membership fees.


Guest Policy

Recreational Sports members may sponsor one guest for $10 per day, or $5 if the guest has a valid ID from another college. The member must be in the facility at the same time as their guest.


Family Weekend Membership

The weekend is defined as Saturday and Sunday, during our hours of operation.

Recreational Sports members are entitled to purchase one adult Family Weekend Membership for an immediate family member over the age of 18. This will give the family member access to all Recreational Sports facilities on Saturdays and Sundays. This member must purchase a VCU ID card.

Recreational Sports members are entitled to purchase one child Family Weekend Membership for each child under the age of 18 that said member lives with and/or is financially responsible for.

An adult over the age of 18 must be present in the activity area where the child is located. Parents are responsible for the supervision and actions of their children at all times. Parents are responsible for assuring that children are participating in activities that are appropriate for their age and ability.

Final determination of eligibility for these memberships will be determined by the Membership Services Coordinator.

Rental lockers are available at both the Cary Street Gym and MCV Campus Recreation and Aquatic Center.
