Participants must sign up in advance for all trips at the Outing Rental Center. Trips close the Tuesday before the trip. We accept VISA, MASTERCARD credit cards, debit cards, and checks.

Summer Day Cave
Join us for another exciting day below the surface of the earth. Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy the experience
of caving! While it is hot outside it is a constant 55 F down here. You will learn about cave formations first-hand from experienced leaders. We will be traveling to western Virginia to explore the vast caverns beneath us. Check out our video of a recent caving trip!

Canoeing
Enjoy a relaxing weekend floating down the river. This will be a scenic paddle of mostly calm water with a few minor rapids. We will spend the evening camping by the river and cooking a big dinner in the Dutch ovens around the camp fire.

Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) has been gaining popularity and opening up new opportunities for surfers, fisherman and recreational paddlers around the world. We’ll spend our day on the beach, soaking up the sun and learning the basics of stability, balance and maneuvering. Discover for yourself why this fun and exciting sport is taking off. Pack a lunch, as one will not be provided.

Attention all mountain bikers! Come ride the trails with the OAP. We will meet Saturday morning and head to the trailhead to enjoying some fun single track at this great area. No previous mountain bike experience is required.

Hiking and Backpacking
Join us for a summer hike in the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy the lush green forests, cascading waterfalls and a day away from the city. Take a break from the summer heat in the shade of the trees. Be sure to pack a lunch, as food is not included.

Week Long Trips - Summer 2013
Join us in celebrating the start of summer by riding bikes and camping along the length of the C&O canal! One week, 184.5 Miles of nature, history and epic camp vibes. If you've ever considered bikepacking, (and a quick Google search will convince you that you should), this trip will be a great introduction to the activity. Trip price includes a top-of-the-line Fuji mountain bike, all your gear, experienced guides, delicious food, even espresso. We'll spend days riding bikes and evenings unwinding around the campfire. Bobcats. Bald Eagles. The beautiful Potomac River. Come by the Outing Rental Center and ask us about it!

Summer Adventure in Iceland - August - Trip is FULL
Has the Richmond summer heat got you down? Come cool off in Iceland. The OAP is heading to the land of fire and ice for our annual summer trip. Our trip starts in the stunning city of Reykjavík where we all have some time to take in some local culture. From there we will travel to central Iceland to begin the backpacking leg of or trip. We will be walking along some of the world’s most epic and beautiful trails with views of volcanic mountains, massive glaciers and cascading waterfalls. Our evenings will be spent in camp eating delicious meals and possibly even sitting in one of the several hot springs. Our journey back will be along the infamous Golden Circle with a stop at the blue lagoon.
Passport required, so make sure yours is up to date.
Cost: Student: $425 + Airfare.

Climbing Wall/Bouldering Wall
The Climbing Wall and Bouldering Wall are new parts of the Outdoor Adventure Program that can be used by Recreational Sports members. Anyone can climb with the supervision and belaying of the Climbing Wall staff. All necessary climbing equipment is available to be checked out for free for use at the wall. This is a chalk free climbing facility. Call 804.827.8747 for more information.
