Day Canoeing on the Upper James
Come enjoy a relaxing day of canoeing on the Upper James River. This will be a scenic day paddle of mostly calm water with a few minor rapids. Beginner canoeing instruction will be available. The OAP will supply guides, equipment and transportation; lunch is not included.

Canoeing Under the Stars
Come out for an evening of canoeing under the stars at Swift Creek Reservoir. This trip is terrific for parents with younger children. A guide familiar with the constellations will be along. Price includes transportation, equipment, and guides.

Kayak Roll Clinic
Come down to the MCV Pool to learn basic self-rescue techniques and the all-important Eskimo Roll! No experience necessary, just bring a bathing suit and a smile! American Canoe Association certified instructors teach all Kayak Roll Clinics. You must sign up in advance at the Outdoor Rental Center.

Kayak Practice Pool Session
One Tuesday night per month OAP hosts an open pool kayak time. This is not an instructional clinic. The pool will be open to kayakers to come and practice their rolls and other kayak skills. You must bring your own boat and sign up in advance. Boat rental can be arranged for a limited number of individuals who have taken VCU roll clinics.

Women’s Rock Climbing Clinic
Female guides will teach you basic climbing techniques, safety, equipment and belaying in a safe and trusting environment. This rock climbing and camping adventure is designed for women and will help you gain confidence in your abilities. Price includes food, transportation, equipment, and guides.

Enjoy an evening of outdoor climbing right here in Richmond at Manchester Wall. The OAP will supply all necessary equipment and will set up the routes for you. Sign up in advance at the OAP; climbing shoes can be rented in advance.

Rock Climbing Day Trip
Enjoy a beautiful day out of the city. You will learn basic climbing knots, safety, belaying and climbing techniques. Experienced and safety conscious guides will teach the basics of rock climbing. Our clinic will be held at Goshen Pass.

Evening Climbs at Peak Experience
It’s College Climbing Night at Peak Experiences Climbing Gym. Price is two for one so bring a friend. Transportation is the only thing provided. Peak Experience staff will teach you proper belaying and knots. This is simply a ride service; we leave at 6:00 pm from Outing Rental Center and will return at 10:30 pm. Shoes and harness can be rented from the ORC before you leave.

Day Hiking – Back Bay
Sign up for a great day of hiking along the sand dunes at Back Bay State Park. This is a five-mile loop trail that follows the boardwalk along the bays and returns along the dunes. This is a permitted hiking area and only a limited amount of people get to hike here each year, so sign up early. Lunch not provided.

Day Hiking – Fallingwater Cascades Trail
The OAP will travel to the Fallingwater Cascades Trail for a short day hike. This trail is located along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is an excellent time of year to see the falls. Designated a National and Scenic Trail in 1982, this trail has the scenic splendor of cascades in a gorge and panoramic views. Lunch not included.

Day Hiking – Crab Tree Falls
Set out on a short day hike along the spectacular Crab Tree Falls Trail. Crabtree Falls is arguably the most beautiful set of waterfalls in all of Virginia. Billed as the tallest waterfalls east of the Mississippi. Lunch not included.

Join us for a short day hike along the spectacular White Oak Canyon Trail. This is considered one of the best waterfall hikes in the Shenandoah National Park. This is an excellent time of year to see the falls. Lunch not included.

Backpacking Trip Shenandoah National Park
We will be heading to Big Schloss Mountain for two days and about twelve miles of hiking. Enjoy fall foliage, cool weather, on a beautiful trail…there’s no better time of the year for backpacking in Virginia. Price includes food, transportation, and equipment.

Sea Kayaking in Bahia de Los Angeles, Baja California
Join us in Baja Mexico for a seven-day adventure. We will travel to a remote marine desert enrivonment 400 miles down the Baja Peninsula. The bay is dotted with more than a dozen uninhabited islands and pristine coastline. We will snorkel, fish, day hike, and relax in this amazing natural area. Our itinerary is geared for first-time paddlers, but all experience levels will enjoy this trip. Price inculdes food equipment and guides. Airfare extra.
