Camping and Hiking Trips
Back Bay Day Hike
Sign up for a great day of hiking along the sand dunes at Back Bay State Park. This is a five-mile loop trail that follows the boardwalk along the bays and returns along the dunes. This is a permitted hiking area and only a limited amount of people get to hike here each year so sign up early.

Day Hiking – Trayfoot Mountain Trail
Enjoy a short day hike along the spectacular Trayfoot Mountain Trail in Shenandoah National Park. This trail is located in the Shenandoah National Park and crosses the peak of Trayfoot Mountain for great panoramic views.

Canoeing Trips
Day Canoeing on the Upper James
Come enjoy a relaxing day of canoeing on the Upper James River. This will be a scenic day paddle of mostly calm water with a few minor rapids. Beginner canoeing instruction will be available. The OAP will supply guides, equipment and transportation; lunch is not included.

Canoeing Under the Stars
Come out for an evening of canoeing under the Stars. This trip is terrific for parents with younger children. A guide familiar with the constellations will be along.

Caving Trips
Caving Day Trip
Experience an exciting day below the surface of the earth. You will learn about cave formations first-hand from experienced leaders. We will be traveling to West Virginia or western Virginia to explore the vast caverns beneath us. We will leave the outing rental center at 9 a.m.

Climbing Trips
Climbing at Manchester Wall
Enjoy an evening of outdoor climbing right here in Richmond at the Manchester Wall. The OAP will supply all necessary equipment and will set up the routes for you.
Where: Manchester Wall, Richmond VA
Price: Free. Shoe rental is and extra $3 in advance.
Women's Rock Climbing Clinic
All female guides will teach you basic climbing techniques, safety, equipment and belaying in a safe and trusting environment. This rock climbing/camping adventure is designed for women and will help you gain confidence in your abilities.

Rock Climbing Day Trip
Enjoy a beautiful day out of the city. You will learn basic climbing knots, safety, belaying and climbing techniques while. Experienced and safety conscious guides will teach the basics of rock climbing.
Where: Will be held at either Hidden Rocks or Goshen Pass depending on weather.

Hang Gliding
Hang Gliding and Day at the Beach
Come with us for an exciting day hang gliding and relaxing day on the beach! We will drive to Kill Devil Hills, N. Carolina on Saturday morning and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. Then on Sunday morning we will join Kitty Hawk Kites for a three-hour hang gliding lesson and at least five guaranteed flights. We will be camping out on Saturday night.

Kayaking Trips
Beginner Kayak Clinic on the James River
This one-day clinic is designed to introduce you to proper kayaking techniques, paddle strokes, whitewater safety and river reading. This course is designed to build on the kayak pool sessions.

Kayak Roll Clinic
Come down to the MCV Campus Aquatic Center Pool to learn basic self-rescue techniques and the all-important Eskimo Roll! No experience necessary. American Canoe Association certified instructors teach all Kayak Roll Clinics.

Kayak Practice — Pool Session
One Tuesday night per month OAP hosts an open pool kayak time. This is not an instructional clinic. The MCV Campus Aquatic Center pool will be open to kayakers to come and practice their rolls and other kayak skills. You must bring your own boat and sign up in advance. Boat rental can be arranged for a limited number of individuals who have taken VCU roll clinics.

Sea Kayaking
Sea kayaks are very stable, easy to paddle and steer. We will spend the day exploring the bays around Mathews County, VA and get a great view of point comfort lighthouse. Guides are experienced sea kayakers and basic instructions will be given.

Rafting Trips
Day Rafting on the James River
Come whitewater rafting on the mighty and historic James River with rapids up to Class III+! This is an excellent day trip for beginners as well as seasoned rafters. Professionally trained rafting guides will guide all rafts.

Youghiogheny River Whitewater Rafting Trip
Spend a weekend in the wilds of Southern Pennsylvania. We will camp for two nights and enjoy one day of rafting.
